COMPETITION DETAILS

This will be a (2) two-day event showcasing the skills and talents of Barbers representing the East Coast. Contestants must compete in 5 of 8 categories of haircuts. Haircuts will be judged by your peers within the Barbering industry.

The top (5) five Barbers with the highest score will win cash and prizes.

The barber with the highest score will drive away in a 5-Star Mobile Barber Shop. 

There will be 8 Barber Battles located in the following states. 

  • Charlotte, North Carolina

  • Philadelphia, Pa 

  • Atlanta, Georgia

  • Maryland, District of Columbia, 

  • Charleston, South Carolina

  • Jacksonville, Florida

  • Richmond, Virginia 

  • Newark, New Jersey

Best Barbers for each Battle will receive: 

  • 1st win Mobile Barber Shop

  • 2nd $5,000 in cash in prizes

  • 3rd  $3,000 in cash in prizes

  • 4th  $2,000 in cash in prizes

  • 5th  $1,000 in cash in prizes

There will be a (2) two-day registration.

 

The Barber must bring his own Barber equipment and models to cut. All Model’s must have a clean “uncut hair” and without a “shape-up”. All Barbers will have 25 minutes to cut a “free style” haircut for the registration. ​

Barber schools

  • Barber Schools must register during the (2) two-day registration.
  • Barber School apprentices will cut as a group. 
  • All apprentices must perform a “regular” haircut during registration.
  • Barber Schools are responsible for apprentice equipment and models.
The top 3 barber schools will receive cash and apprentices barbers will receive cash for tuition and prizes.

*100 Contestants will publicly demonstrate their skills and talent in (8) eight categories*
 

Vendors will display products for sale, local talent performances, fashion show and presentation of the winners and awards.

Location space is approximately ??,000 - ??,000 sq ft.

There will be 10,000 - 15,000 tickets issued.

The Barbers competing in the Best Barbers event must compete in 5 of the 8 categories to accumulate the most points. The Best Barber for each Barber Battle will receive a grand prize of a 5-star mobile barber shop. The top 5 Barbers with the highest number of points from each Barber Battle will  receive cash and prizes.

Barber School

Barber Schools will be competing against other Barber School apprentices.

Barber schools must have a minimum of (5) five apprentices participating in (5) five categories. 

Students will be judged as a group.
Students with the highest scores in each category will receive cash prizes.
Barber School will receive cash and 
apprentices will receive prizes and $500 paid tuition.

RULES

1, All register  barbers excepted  will receive and must ware during the competition for identification.  BFL (1) BFL Apron and T-shirts with LOGO / Barber Shop can be printed on back.

2. It is the responsibilities of each Barber to secure and furnish his/her own Barber equipment and materials needed to cut the hair of their models. ECBB will provide the barber station, lighting, electricity, and clean up.

3. Barbers and models will be photographed for judging and possible use in advertising the ECBB. Models will be photographed before, during, and after the Barber completes the haircut. Due to time restraints, there is no tolerance for lateness - contestants will be disqualified with “no” refund.

4. The competition is open to all licensed Barbers or Barber stylists. Barber schools will be competing against other Barber schools. Barber Schools must have a minimum of (5) five students cutting in (5) five different categories. Barber Schools can have a maximum of (8) eight students cutting in all categories, but only the top (5) five scores will be tabulated. All students will receive a BFL T-shirt with Barber School name / logo on the back and must be ware during the competition.

 

5. No pre-work may be done on a model before a competition. All cutting, including the basic haircut, MUST be done “on-stage”. The starting point of the model’s heads is to be a "Clean Canvas".

 

6. All cut-hair must be left on the floor.

 

7. Straight edge razors and/or razor blades can be used at your own risk.

8. “Pencil-lines” or “hair fibers” are not allowed.

9. The Competition Director, Competition Committee, and/or ECBB Officials will determine any rule not herein provided for. The decision of the Committee is final.

10. The Barber/Contestant must sign and submit the Official Entry Application and the required fee. In doing so, the Barber agrees to abide by the decision of the judges.

11. There must be a minimum of (10) ten contestants for each category by the start of the competition. If there are NOT (10) ten contestants at the start of the competition, prizes/prize money will be altered. There are NO refunds, however, if there are openings in other events the contestant can change event.

 

Rules
JUDGING

20 Judges 4 set of five within the Barbering industry will score from a 1 – 10 point value, and each category has its own “point “value. The Barber with the highest number of points will win that particular event. Each competitor has a time limit to complete and will be judged and scored on the following.

Contestants will be judged on the following:

  • Style

  • Difficulty

  • Precision

  • Shape-Up.

  • Overall Appearance

Beard Cut ----------------------------- 1-5

Extreme Beard Design ------------  2-6

Regular Cut (under 2”) ------------ 1-5

Regular Bush Cut (over 2”) ------  2-6

Fade Cut (under 2”) ---------------- 1-5

Fade Bush Cut (over 2”) ----------  2-6

Design Cut ---------------------------  2-7

Extreme Design Cut  --------------  3-10

Each category will be judged with the point value beside the category.

 

EG. “Beard-Cut” will receive 1 - 5 points for each of the judging categories; the Barber can receive a total of (25) twenty-five points or a minimum of (5) five points.

 

EG. “Extreme Design Cut” will receive 3 - 10 points for each of the judging categories, with a maximum total of (50) fifty points and a minimum of (15) fifteen points.

 

The Barber with the highest number of accumulated points out of the (5) five cuts will be the winner of the event. The best Barber will receive the grand prize a 5-star Executive Mobile Barber Shop. The top (4) four Barbers with the highest number of points will recieve trophies, cash and prizes.

 

Best Barber Shop

Barber Shops must have a minimum of (3) three Barbers participating in (5) five categories and will be judged as a group. The Barbers with the highest number of accumulated points, out of the (5) five cuts as a group, will be the winner of the event.  

 

Best Barber School

Barber Schools must have a minimum of (5) five apprentice Barbers participating in (5) five categories, and students will be judged as a group. Students with the highest number of accumulated points, as a group out of the (5) five cuts, will be the winner of the event.

 

All “tie-breaks” will be judged by a new panel of (3) three judges within the industry. The contestants will be judged on the same criteria with a 1 - 10 point value. The contestant with the highest number of points will win the event.

SPEED CUTS

This contest is only for Barbers “not” participating in the Battle. Barbers who register on line will be first to compete or sign-in the day of the event on a “first come basis”, a fee of $25 for all Barbers participating and all models will be volunteers from public participation - ECBB will provide all additional materials needed to cut: Clipper, trimmers, combs, brush, neck strips and cape. There will be (5) five contestants competing at a time, and only (1) one winner per-group.

There are (2) two categories: regular or fade

Regular Cuts:

The contestant who cuts the most “regular” haircuts within 60 minutes wins. Contestants will be judged on the following:
 

  • Precision 1 - 5

  • Shape-Up elements 1 - 5 

  • Overall appearance 1 - 5

  • Extra points for temple fade/neck fade, shaped sideburns, etc.

  • Number of cuts completed

Equipment used for this event will be provided by a sponsor – EG. Wahl Seniors with clip-on guard and Wahl Outliners. 

Winners and participants will receive Barbers For Life T-Shirts and sponsor equipment / products while supplies last.

EG - If Wahl sponsored this competition, prizing may include Wahl Seniors with clip-on guards and Wahl Outliners.

Fade Cuts:

The contestant who cuts the most “fade” haircuts within 60 minutes wins. Contestants will be judged on the following:
 

  • Precision 1- 5

  • Shape-Up elements 1- 5 

  • Overall appearance 1- 5

  • All fades; temple fade/neck fade, shaped sideburns, etc.

  • Number of cuts completed

Equipment used for this event will be provided by a sponsor – EG. Wahl Seniors with clip-on guard and Wahl Outliners. 

 

Winners and participants will receive Barbers For Life T-Shirts, and sponsor equipment / products while supplies last.
